吉他手布莱德说：“大家对我们最大的误解就是以为我们只是个摇滚乐队，我们认为我们的音乐是由很多类型音乐交错而成,，一种伴着我们六个人成长岁的综合体。”。本想用于首张专辑相同的名字《混合理论》的林肯公园乐队认为“混合理论”就是乐队努力的目标。乐风融入重金属的另类摇滚、嘻哈节奏、炫丽的电子乐，俨然乐队的音乐已成为摇滚乐e世代的精神堡垒。
1996年，学校同窗的主唱麦可与布莱德在麦可的卧室型迷你录音室录下第一首歌，联合公园乐团就这样在南加州播下音乐的种子，两人随后结识鼓手罗伯，过了一阵子，麦可与同在帕莎迪纳市艺术中心学院研习绘画的DJ乔瑟夫搭上线，念加州大学洛杉矶分校的布莱德碰巧跟贝斯手菲尼克斯同为住校室友，菲尼克斯曾在大学毕后曾一度离团，一年后重新归队，组团拼图中的最后一块就是来自亚利桑那州的主唱查斯特，当时乐团正在面向社会公开招聘主音歌手，查斯特的出现吓跑了所有的竞争者，他火暴如炸药般的咆哮，确定了他在乐团中的主唱位置。
乐团起初希望起名为"混合理论"，即他们首张专辑的名字。但后来发现已经有了名为"混合理论"的乐团，使得他们只好改名。恰巧此时乐团途径纽约，大都市的繁荣喧嚣深深感染了乐团的六位年轻人，他们决定，以纽约著名的"Lincoln Park(林肯公园)"作为乐团的名称
乐团的奋斗经历坎坷。他们在20世纪90年代就已经开始尝试的说唱金属风格，在很长一段时间中，得不到主流音乐行业的赏识。在签约出片的过程中，三年来不知道有少主流唱片公司不屑他们，他们举办42场试唱会来赢取合约，失败了42次，连签下他们的华纳也曾多次回绝，而如今他们成为“华纳之宝”，以漂亮的销售数字狠狠地让看不起林肯公园的人跌破眼镜。而在他们苦苦等待唱片公司签约的同时，他们的单曲《ONE STEP CLOSER》却在网路上大红特红，在雅虎的歌迷讨论区短短一个月就涌入千篇的讨论，在BBS上更是当红话题。也正是网络的力量使得华纳提前意识到了乐团的宝贵价值，毅然与之签约。
但乐团在网络上的走红也为乐团的最后定型添加了小小插曲，那就是他们最终发现，即便是在强大的网络基础支持下，他们也是不可能注册"LINCOLN PARK.COM"这个域名，但乐团又不能缺乏网络的后盾。所以，乐团的最终名称就成为了今天的"LINKIN PARK"(林肯公园)，而"LINKINPARK.COM"也就顺理成章地成为了乐团的官方网站。
乐队在20世纪中，曾陆续推出过一些单曲和EP。千禧年的10月24日，乐队推出了他们的首张大碟《混合理论》(HYBRID THEORY)。自从这个日子以后，"令肯公园"的音乐，以及这支乐团所代表的一切，就一发不可收拾的如日中天起来。专辑中共收录了乐团的12首歌曲，每一首都是说唱金属的经典之作。2001年，这张专辑取得了美国本土的最高销量，连续75周占据专辑销售排行榜前5名位置，并仍在不停地刷新着自身的销售记录，直到今天。目前，这张专辑的全球销量保守估计在一千六百多万张左右。
良好的销售状态使得华纳唱片迅速在2001年底推出了《混合理论》的双张全球庆功版，其中添加了乐队的演出现场录音，以及两首全新歌曲《MY DECEMBER》和《HIGH VOLTAGE》，并打算继续推出该专辑的混音版和"公园鼓舞翻唱版"。

聯合公園 (Linkin Park)與知名Hip-Hop歌手傑斯(Jay-Z)在MTV台的策劃下，於今年七月份參加了MTV主辦的”Mash-Ups”表演活動，這個企劃特別結合了來自不同音樂領域的佼佼者，並將他們的知名作品重新混合後產生新的音樂激盪；此場難得一見的表演於今年7月18日舉行，兩方人馬在好萊塢的Roxy Theater大聲對嗆！而聯合公園與傑斯更進錄音室重新錄製專輯版本，祭出了【Collision Course衝擊理論】這張CD+DVD的音樂奇蹟！其中除了錄音室版本及整場”Mash-Ups”的現場演出外，更收錄幕後花絮讓大家了解這項音樂奇蹟的”對嗆”過程！這一次聯合公園和傑斯所擦出的火花不只在音樂上，此次合作的6首歌中，對於每首歌的歌詞做了巧妙地安排連結，每首歌不只音樂契合，連詞義也都一氣喝成，讓所有的LP迷們，有了六首新歌可以早晚膜拜玩味。而首支單曲『Numb/Encore二度麻痺』音樂錄影帶將自11月5日起一連7日在MTV音樂台獨家首播！
音樂火花不可收拾，英雄惜英雄相見恨晚
當聯合公園的靈魂人物麥可(Mike)在1995年初為音樂玩家時，他曾把傑斯首張專輯音樂中饒舌的部分，和九吋釘及非凡人物的音樂，巧妙地結合在一起，但麥可萬萬沒想到在九年後的今天，他們真的有了面對面近距離的合作機會，而且激起的音樂火花一發不可收拾！其實之前有許多DJ都喜歡拿JAY-Z的音樂開刀，將其音樂融合在其他樂手的音樂裡，像是DJ Mouse就把披頭四的專輯”White”和傑斯的專輯”Black”，重製出一張新專輯”Grey Album”。這次話題性的合作，其實是由聯合公園的靈魂人物麥可先出招的，麥可先在傑斯的專輯”Black”中挑出一首歌，並加上聯合公園的音樂，產出一種全新的音樂能量，並在第一時間以e-mail跟傑斯分享，當傑斯收到作品時隨即燃起他的興趣，馬上約了見面時間，共同研討專輯走向及表演的細節。而除了首次的碰面討論外，一直到表演彩排前，雙方都僅以e-mail溝通，而原因正如麥可所言的：「我們要保留彼此見面時的那股”興奮感”，讓它留到表演前夕在一次的激盪散發出來！」而為了讓這次的合作能以最完美的品質呈現給全球樂迷，聯合公園與傑斯決定進錄音室再”對嗆”一次！「在錄音的過程中，我們激起更多的音樂火花！如果只是那場現場的演出，我們都不會知道LP與JZ的音樂可以翻新昇華到如此高的境界！」身為製作人的麥可如此的表示著，更覺得製作【Collision Course衝擊理論 CD+DVD】這張專輯時的壓力更大、挑戰性更大，而完成時比完成自己的專輯還興奮！

林肯公园的第一和第二张专集都买了,非常不错~后来听mp3了，就不买磁带了哎~
