Role description
§ To provide 1st & 2nd line support to internal clients with respect to IT.
Primary responsibilities
· Maintenance and mutations on a Nortel Meridian PABX via MAT
· Answering general questions
· Installation and support of new programs
· Installation and support of new systems, occasional reinstallation of existing systems
· Support in removal of occasional viruses
· Support of
Microsoft Operating Systems (2000 Prof/XP)
· Support of Microsoft Office (2000/2003)
· Installation and explanation of dial up connections (
VPN and Infonet (third party) dial in)
· Maintain end-user system administration
· Maintain record of incoming calls
Additional responsibilities
§ Responsible for handling incoming phone calls
§ Response time of max 2 hours required.
Knowledge & Skill requirements
· Knowledge of PABX system
· Helpdesk reps need to possess great customer service skills, including customer-oriented telephone and email/communication abilities with the capability to respond quickly, competently and patiently. These individuals must be able to gather information, evaluate options and offer good solutions.
· An understanding of both the overall systems environment, such as system maintenance, workstation support, Internet connectivity and security services, as well as the specific products in use is crucial.
· Helpdesk reps need to know how to present technical information to no technical audiences.
· Computer support specialists generally need only an associate's degree in a computer-related field as well as significant hands-on experience with computers.
· At least 3 years helpdesk experience.
· Good knowledge of Windows 2000 / XP.
· Good knowledge of Office 2000 / 2003.
· Preferred Windows 2000 degree.
· Knowledge about PGP and Safeboot would be an advantage.
· Basic TCP/IP is a requirement.
